Career Testimonials

Elaine Cacarillo, CLU

Elaine Cacarillo joined Northwestern Mutual in 1992 after spending 15-years in a successful career with a large public relations and advertising agency. As a mother of two young boys, she realized that she wanted more flexibility, independence, and time with her family. Elaine enjoyed this career in her early years with the agency because she was able to make choices that allowed her to have a good balance of work and family, and allowed her to be there for her children’s upbringing.

Since joining Northwestern Mutual, Elaine has consistently been among the top 10 producers in the agency, is a 5 time Forum qualifying member and among the top 10 women producers in the entire company. She has qualified for the Million Dollar Round Table every year since joining Northwestern Mutual. Furthermore, Elaine has been a mentor for the past 12 years and also does a great deal of joint work with the agency’s first-year representatives.  Elaine states, “I made more money in my first year as a financial representative than I did in the 15 years I spent in public relations. My only regret is that I didn’t find this career sooner”.

Jonathan Romero

Jonathan Romero joined Northwestern Mutual in January, 2015. Having spent a successful 18 years in financial services and asset management, he felt he could leverage his experience to establish a rewarding practice through the company's broad platform.

“Adapting to change can be daunting. Northwestern Mutual has an excellent reputation, and some of the best products and services available in the marketplace. This office in particular has a robust training program, strong leadership, and excellent staff. If you are willing to do the work, this is a great career option. I feel fortunate to be here.”

Tom Harkins

Tom Harkins joined Northwestern Mutual in late 1999, after spending over a decade as a foreign exchange/capital markets trader. Tom was looking for a career where he could feel a sense of control over his practice and schedule, as well as escape from the high stress investment banking environment. “Northwestern Mutual afforded me the opportunity to take real ownership of my career. As importantly, I receive great satisfaction from helping clients. When a client has an unfortunate life event that would have been financially devastating had they not met me, and the family reaches out to thank me for what I did, there is a satisfaction that I could never have enjoyed in my former career.”
