Northwestern Mutual's network office in New York City has been located in Midtown Manhattan since its inception, and continues to serve the entire tri-state area.

The agency is comprised of more than 100 career associates and over 70 college interns. The office's success has stemmed from a combination of effective leadership, dedication to servicing its policyholders, and the company's exceptional performance.

The ambition of Managing Partner, Matt Russo, is to make a positive impact on all associates and their clientele by creating an environment of enduring relationships, where they help each other grow personally, professionally, and financially.

Matt Russo: The Northwestern Mutual Experience

Matt Russo received a Bachelor of Science in Hotel and Restaurant Administration in 1990 from Cornell University. His industry experience includes management positions with major restaurant associations, as well as a wholesaler of fine wines with one of the largest spirit purveyors in New England.

Matt joined Northwestern Mutual in 1995, concentrating his market within the medical field and the hospitality industry. As a financial representative he had achieved Northwestern Mutual Forum Honors since 2000, and was the recipient of numerous individual sales awards. In 1999, Matt was named Managing Director of The North Shore Group in Wakefield, Massachusetts. Under his direction, The North Shore Group had been awarded the District Network Office Growth Award for the last six years, and the Outstanding Achievement in Recruiting and Selection for the last seven years. From 2000 to 2006, Matt was a member of the Northwestern Forum, which consisted of the Top 150 financial representatives in the company.

In June 2006, Matt was appointed Managing Partner of the Midtown Manhattan network office, which is consistently one of the highest producing agencies in the United States with over 100 financial representatives. Matt is committed to the continued organic growth and success of the office. The Network Office is currently producing sales of over $12 million annually, and has been the recipient of several awards from Northwestern Mutual, including the Achievement Award, Growth Award, Premium Leader and Persistency Leader.

Matt has been with the company for 15 years, has been a client of Northwestern Mutual for 19 years, and his family have been clients since 1964. Matt resides in New Canaan, CT with his wife, Tonya, and their sons, Thomas and Chad. He enjoys coaching football, wine collecting, growing grapes, making maple syrup and spending time with his family.

Matt Russo would like to acknowledge the strength of the leadership team within the Midtown Manhattan network office. The goal of his leadership team is to ensure the continued success of their financial representatives by providing the proper guidance and support to help them experience both personal and professional growth.

He is passionate about providing an environment that is both motivating and challenging which will propel each representative to excel to his or her highest level of personal and professional achievement.
