Summer Internship 2016

Northwestern Mutual has been a leader in providing financial security to clients for over 150 years. Founded in 1857, our company is well-positioned to help manage financial risk and achieve financial security in today's complex world.

Since 1967, Northwestern Mutual's Internship Program has provided over 20,000 students from all over the country an unmatched opportunity to learn more about themselves, the world of business and the financial services career.

Interns with Northwestern Mutual’s network office in Midtown Manhattan get real life, client facing experiences. They get to test drive what it feels like to build client relationships and a financial services practice. Interns receive extensive training and development and get hands on experiences, all with the chance to earn a full-time opportunity upon graduating college.

Like financial representatives and advisors with full-time contracts, our college interns:

  • Provide expert guidance and innovative solutions for individuals and businesses in the areas of retirement needs analysis and planning, business needs analysis and planning, employee benefits, insurance and investment services, estate planning and education funding.
  • Are supported by a highly competent staff and a network of Specialists who provide expertise in all product areas.
  • Build trusted relationships with their clients.
  • Have exclusive access to Northwestern Mutual insurance products and an array of quality investment choices.

According to FORTUNE magazine’s annual peer survey, Northwestern Mutual was named one of “America’s Most Admired” life insurance company 38 times since 1983.

Vault, Inc. ranked the Northwestern Mutual internship program one of "America's Top Ten Internships" for 20 straight years (Vault Guide to Internships, 2016 edition).

Northwestern Mutual was deemed a "Best Place to Launch a Career" by Business Week, "Best Company to Sell for Now" by Selling Power and "Best Company to Work for" by Glassdoor.com.
